Engaging with Scripture and God this Week

December 8 - WORSHIP
Read Luke 3:1-6. How does the story of John the Baptist fill you with hope?

December 9 - PRAY
Pray through the Second Advent Collect.  As you go out during the week, notice the people you pass. Ask God to bless them in their lives and in their work. Notice how this changes the way you live your week.
Almighty God, who sent your servant John the Baptist to prepare your people to welcome the Messiah, inspire us, the ministers and stewards of your truth, to turn our disobedient hearts to you, that when the Christ shall come again to be our judge, we may stand with confidence before his glory; who is alive and reigns with you and the ‘Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

December 10 - CHANGE
Do you need to make amends, apologize, or adjust? Ask God to open your heart and mind to those opportunities for reconciliation and growth. Thank God for the gifts of mercy and love, and the courage to make the necessary changes. And then do your best, with God’s help, to make those changes.

December 11 - BLESS
We know that angels are God’s special messengers to us and that Gabriel spent intentional time with Mary helping her understand the role she would play in God’s story. Who shared an important lesson or presence with you this week? Thank them today with a call or note.

December 12 - REST
Set aside 30 minutes today to be in silence with your best friend. Sure, it might feel a little weird to be silent on the phone or while sitting next to each other on the couch or across the table. But give it a try. Make sure to set aside time after the silence to pray for each other and be thankful for the time of rest.

December 13 - GO
Make an effort to have a conversation today with someone you wouldn't normally visit. Ask God to open your heart to listen to that person as He would.

December 14 - LEARN
Read Luke 1:45. Share your faith story with someone new this week. It may be someone you’ve known for a while who hasn’t heard your faith story.
